I am Bright Kpalam. a Biochemistry graduate from the University of Cape Coast in Ghana. I hold unto professionalism, integrity, determination, and dedication as some of my hallmarks.
As a student, I strongly believe in the inclusion of youth in governance processes as well as in global discourses, in order to mitigate some of the common challenges which we are facing today. It is therefore among my goals to cause positive change on a global level using my talents and skills.
In July 2020, I represented Belgium at the Global Model United Nations conference (GMUN), and was selected as Best Delegate. I had an incredible experience and I can say without doubt that GMUN has been a great advancement for me. The approach to debate and general litigious issues of international concern, raised by committee members, created solid resolutions which reflected the will of the youth.
GMUN 2020 simulated the working environment of the United Nations and provided us with lessons in International Diplomacy, which are beneficial for young individuals and their personal development. It is not only about debates and the learning atmosphere, but there is also room to meet like-minded individuals from across the globe to enhance social networking and further create common projects among us.
In tandem with the experience among colleagues, the presentation by the UK Ambassador to Italy, Her Excellency Jill Morris, was an inspiring seminar and a great encouragement to those who actively took part in the GMUN.
With the experience from GMUN 2020, and as a member of the organizing team of GMUN 2021, I am confident in the preparation for the 2021 edition. The organizing team comprises of brilliant individuals from different universities, working with a transparent and fair approach in order to make GMUN 2021 a reality.
I would recommend GMUN 2021 and the subsequent editions, for any student, graduate, and youth activists. It is an MUN which perfectly mirrors the diplomacy and environment that characterize the UN’s work.
By participating, you can be sure of building your own capacities, enhancing social and debating skills, and creating an international network while promoting positive global change.
See you in July!
